Pumping Trial Resource Assessment
Biogas Systems was commissioned to design, install and manage a dual LFG and leachate pumping trial at a former papermill landfill site. The overall objective of the LFG pumping trial was to assess, by active LFG extraction and combustion, what measures are most likely to be successful in achieving the project requirements, which included leachate to be managed in order to access the LFG.
Biogas Systems designed the dual collection system in order to manage both leachate and maintain LFG extraction, with all wells having high flow 4” pneumatic pumps and LFG flow lines installed.
Biogas Systems’ maintains a fleet of elevated flares for pumping trials and resource assessment. A 500 m3/hr flare was determined to be of sufficient capacity to maintain adequate vacuum across the field. Real time data was access was provided by a GA3000 Plus connected to a telemetry system, which logged flare data at 15-minute intervals. This data was transmitted on a regular basis to monitor the effectiveness of the trial as well as providing a very comprehensive data set.
